Building a Career Through Trust and Teamwork

When Damein joined Robinson as a Quality Inspector in 2020, he dove in to apply his decade of hands-on fabrication experience and AWS CWI certification. But what he found was more than just a job. He discovered a pathway to professional growth, backed by a supportive team culture.

“Making the change from a fabricator to the quality department in a full-time capacity was available at Robinson. I was looking forward to the opportunities available to me as well as the growth potential, from a career standpoint.”

That potential quickly became reality.

Starting as a floor inspector examining custom fab parts, Damein’s dedication earned him increased responsibilities.

“As time went on, I was given more responsibility by leadership and took on bigger roles within the quality department, working my way up to a supervisor role.”

Today, his favorite part of the job is the people. Damein enjoys the chance to work with colleagues of different ages and skill sets, and to be part of their professional growth.

“For a company this size, the amount of close relationships you can build that even expand beyond the walls of the building is great.”

He also takes particular pride in the power generation projects they get to handle:

“From the metal fab to the finished assembly, it’s very interesting that we build something that accomplishes so much out in the world.”

Beyond the day-to-day work, Damein has been impressed by Robinson’s commitment to work-life balance. This is especially true when his daughter’s school is called off for a snow day, or if someone in the family needs to get to an appointment.

“My team supports me. Robinson wants you to take care of family first.”

As an employee-owner through Robinson’s ESOP, Damein sees the bigger picture like this:

“It means I have a long-term plan to help towards my retirement. This will set my family and me up very well when that day comes. It also provides an incentive to become even more proficient at what I do. If we all take that approach, the success of Robinson and our retirements is literally in our hands.”

From working hard day in and day out to keeping an eye on a stable future, Damein is committed to his career at Robinson. He also has this advice for prospective team members:

“Look very hard at the broad picture with Robinson. Pay and benefits matter, but look at what your life, day to day, will also look like. Look at the caliber of work you can perform and the opportunities to help your whole team succeed.”
