The roots of metal fabrication run deep in Robinson. It all began with Al Robinson’s vision in 1923 and carried on throughout the 20th century under the leadership of Al’s sons, Maurie and Tom. Playing an active role in northeast Wisconsin’s economy for a century, Robinson has earned a reputation as a trusted contract metal manufacturing partner for a wide range of customers.

Today, 100 years later, Robinson’s nearly 600 employees are highly experienced in single-source metal solutions, from engineering to complete custom fabrication . We specialize in custom enclosures and fabrication, and hold ISO and ASME certifications that ensure we will deliver the highest quality products. Our end-to-end solutions benefit customers in a wide range of industries .
Our team designs and fabricates American-made products from state-of-the art facilities in De Pere and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, that comprise 525,000 square feet of flexible manufacturing space.
After working in their father Al’s business, brothers Maurie and Tom Robinson open Robinson Metal & Roofing, a new venture offering three distinct services: sheet metal work, heating and air conditioning, and roofing.
1975Tom’s son, Todd, joins as a salesperson in heating and cooling.
1987Long-time employee, Darrell LaCrosse, becomes General Manager
1989The Robinsons sell the roofing department to its foreman.
1995Robinson forms two new divisions: Custom Enclosures and Machining.
1998Darrell LaCrosse and Todd Robinson buy the company after Maurie Robinson passes away and Tom Robinson retires.
1999Under a new name, Robinson Metal, Inc. relocates to a larger facility, allowing for increased capabilities.
2000Robinson adds a 60,000-square-foot addition.
2008Robinson purchases a 112,000-square-foot facility in Manitowoc
2018Robinson acquires another 178,000-square-foot facility in De Pere, 80,000 square feet dedicated to coatings
2019The name changes to Robinson, Inc. to better reflect the company’s vast range of capabilities.
2020Robinson Heating & Cooling is sold to its service manager and commercial sales representative.
2021Robinson adds a 25,000 square foot addition to its Manitowoc facility.
2023Giving Back To Our Communities
Whether it be through hands-on volunteer efforts or monetary and product donations, the support we provide outside of our facilities benefits the community and strengthens our team.
We are especially proud that throughout our company’s history, we have provided ongoing support to local athletic programs and Little League teams, as well as many non-profit organizations that support local community needs.
